Time is running out to submit your nomination for the Commercial Painting Industry Association and Technology Publishing Co.’s sixth annual Elevation Awards. The honors program recognizes projects ranging from residential exteriors and commercial renovations to floor coatings and wall coverings throughout the commercial coatings industry.
Regarding a project's eligibility, all nominated projects must be completed between Jan. 1, 2021, and July 15, 2022. The deadline to submit a nomination(s) has recently been extended to July 29.
Facility owners, architects, interior designers, painting contractors, decorative artisans, manufacturers and suppliers are invited to submit. Winners of the 2022 Elevation Awards will be announced during an awards ceremony at the CPIA Leadership Conference and will be featured in PaintSquare Daily News and the winter issue of Commercial Painting.
This year’s project categories are as follows:
New Construction;
Mixed-Use Commercial;
Multi-Family/Residential High-Rise;
Institutional (Healthcare, Education, etc.);
Floor Coatings; and
Ancillary/Misc. Services (Roof Coatings, Wallcovering, Fabric Panels, etc.).
This year’s panel of judges will also be making a selection for the 2022 Judges' Choice Award. Drawing from individual category winners, judges will select an overall winner that recognizes an outstanding architecture project that best exemplifies the seamless combination of compelling aesthetics and high performance in the use of coatings and other substrate treatments.
Meet the Judges
This year’s competition will see a collection of familiar faces. While some will be returning for their second year, others have notably been a part of the awards program since its inaugural debut.
Made up of five industry professionals, all have agreed to evaluate the nominees for honors in both aesthetic and technical categories throughout the commercial coatings industry. For the first time since its launch, the 2022 Elevation Awards program redefined its categories and project timelines to create more opportunities for painters and painting contractors to showcase their work.
“While last year’s turnout of submissions was impressive, especially given all the obstacles faced by the industry concerning the COVID-19 pandemic, we at the CPIA and TPC wanted to take things to the next level,” said Destiny Johnson, Editor-in-Chief of Commercial Painting. “The changes made were not just new ideas spurred between the associations, however, but through suggestions of our judges as well. It is for this reason that we’re glad to have everyone back to see firsthand how these adjustments will impact the program.”
This year’s Elevation Awards judges are as follows:
Liz A. Perez-Lavin, President, Service Contracting Solutions;
Michael Capulong, Colour Studio Inc., Architectural + Product Color Consultation;
Kenneth A. Trimber, PCS, former President of KTA-Tator Inc.;
Jeff Theo, PCS, Vice President of Business Development, Vulcan Painters; and
Andre O. Desjarlais, Residential Buildings Program Manager, Oak Ridge National Laboratory.
Judge profiles can be viewed in the summer issue of Commercial Painting.
