CPIA Announces Bi-Monthly Vault Calls

About the Vault Call

Similar to the purpose of a real vault, where valuables are safely kept, The Vault Call will safely host a platform for discussions amongst professionals involved in the commercial painting industry. “There is no better source of industry information and ideas than the ‘vault’ of our membership’s collective wisdom and experience,” said CPIA Managing Director Mike Stanley. “Every two weeks, you can tap into that knowledge bank at The Vault Call, a live, video roundtable discussion open to all members. Be sure to invite your leadership team and mark your calendar.” Like the roundtable discussions hosted at the CPIA Leadership Conferences, The Vault Call will be a virtual version where all members of the CPIA, regardless of their level of membership, are welcome to attend, reflect, share and learn together from the Association’s collective of doers. (Note: Each member company receives three representatives that are welcome to attend, and key team members are also welcome to join.) Attendees of these virtual calls will be taken through four primary sections. First, the session will begin with an introduction to the topic or issue, followed by individual and group reflections related to it. From this point, the attendees will be placed into “breakout rooms” where they can discuss potential solutions and experiences with one another. In closing, each group shares what they have learned and how the collective can take this new information and lesson forward with them in their commercial painting career. While Co-Founder Aaron Moore will facilitate the discussions—which will cover technical problems, business operations, and personal development, among other subjects—he has shared that the calls will also feature guest hosts throughout the year and that the CPIA will be accepting suggestions for topics or issues of discussion. To submit questions or ideas, please email the CPIA: vault@thecpia.com.

Previous Topic Discussions

On the Jan. 24 call, Louie Boncyk said his company, Benise-Dowling, had success finding highly qualified, pre-vetted candidates through multiplymii.com, which he had learned about from fellow CPIA members. On the Feb. 14 call, Matt Orme (PR Commercial Painting LLC) shared information about "Climbing the Ladder," a structured career path initiative that his firm successfully implemented to train and retain employees. During the February 28 call, Steven Carrillo from Blue River Coatings shared his firm's success with an employee rating system. The system utilized a 1-5 metric, which focused on clearly delineated core components to accurately evaluate the performance of salespeople on a monthly schedule. Thanks to this approach, real-time adjustments could be made throughout the year, which ultimately aided the employee review process. The Vault Call will take place on the second and fourth Tuesday of every month at 4 PM EST. The next official meeting will take place on March 28. The calls last roughly one hour and can be accessed at: meet.goto.com/CPIA_VAULT. Note: Because these calls cannot be called into via phone, it is strongly advised that all participants download the GoTo app, here. CPIA Members also have exclusive access to video recordings of the full Vault Calls, which are available on thecpia.com following the discussion.
