Last month in Henderson, Nevada, over 100 members and sponsors of the Commercial Painting Industry Association met for its second annual CPIA Leadership Conference, co-hosted with Technology Publishing Company. Held in tandem with the Commercial Contractor Connect hosted buyer event, the conference featured an array of first-class networking activities, panel discussions and a dual-track educational session series.
“Connecting with old friends and making new who are willing to share so much knowledge with you makes this a phenomenal organization. Thanks to everyone who attended, see you next year!” said Bruno Garzon, Director of Field Operations at PPD Painting, following the event’s conclusion.
While the Association is waiting to share a full spectrum recap of all that occurred from Oct. 10-13 at The Westin Lake Las Vegas Resort and Spa in its winter edition of Commercial Painting, several other announcements were shared at the conference that cannot wait to be released to the group’s entirety.
All slated to occur in 2023, the CPIA has announced both the dates and locations for its third annual CPIA Leadership Conference, in addition to a new event. Next year, the CPIA Leadership Conference will set up operations in Chicago.
Spanning some 60,000 hectares, the city of Chicago is known for much more than its pizza. A city that thrives on design and architecture, it is home to the Chicago Architecture Center—formerly known as the Chicago Architecture Foundation.
A nonprofit cultural organization, CAC's sole purpose is to inspire people to discover why design matters.
Chicago's extensive architectural history and its continued promotion of architectural innovations and high-standard urban designs make it the perfect location for commercial coatings contractors to discuss and discover how their work affects the industry.
Taking place from Sept. 11-14, 2023, the third annual Leadership Conference will again be hosted in conjunction with Technology Publishing Company’s Commercial Contractor Connect event.
Registration for this event is expected to open in early 2023.
The Association's new event—an executive retreat—will be taking place from May 7-9, 2023, at The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs. This event was created specifically for members of executive and leadership peer groups of the Association and is only attendable by invitation only.
The Broadmoor is the world’s longest-running consecutive winner of both the Forbes Five-Star and AAA Five-Diamond awards, and has an extensive history dating back to 1865.
Nestled on the southern edge of the Rocky Mountains and surrounded by lush greenery, the location offers over 315,000 square feet of flexible and functional event space, convention space and meeting areas of all sizes.
A Trip ‘Down Under’
During the second annual CPIA Leadership Conference, executive members from Australian contractors Higgins Coatings shared that they would also be hosting an 11-day event for CPIA members interested in attending.
While the Australian Painting Tour is limited to a small group of contractors (first come, first served), it promises several opportunities for networking, product introductions, as well as educational segments on application techniques and potentially new opportunities.
The entire experience is split across three cities on the country’s East Coast, including Melbourne, Sydney and Gold Coast. Each day offers a different experience, whether it be an evening spent with the Higgins team, a tour of Dulux’s facilities, business discussions, roundtable workshops, optional activities and more.
General Manager of Operations Nick Higgins recently shared that those who attend the trip will not only have the opportunity to glean knowledge and experience from Higgins Coatings but will be joined by four representatives from the Bell Group and Heinrich Schmid. The contractors are two of Europe’s largest painting organizations.
This event is taking place from Feb. 7-17, 2023. The registration deadline was recently extended to Nov. 14.
