APV Engineered Coatings Changes NeverFade Brand Name

Earlier this month, paint and coating manufacturer APV Engineered Coatings introduced a new name for its NeverFade Façade Restoration Coatings with Kynar Aquatec PVDF resin brand. APV Engineered Coatings is an Influencer Member of the CPIA.

Originally launched in 2009, the water-based paint systems for new and existing exterior surfaces and roofs have now become NeverFade Exterior Paints with Kynar Aquatec PVDF resin.

“The new branding is intended to better appeal to APV’s growing base of customers and specifiers, including painting contractors, architects, engineers, building owners, facility managers, home builders, and homeowners,” said Sara Krause, NeverFade Product Manager, APV Engineered Coatings. “It is further intended to avoid any potential confusion that NeverFade is only for the building restoration and remediation industry. In fact, more and more new construction projects are turning to NeverFade for its long-term, fade-free performance.”

According to the emailed release, NeverFade Exterior Paints with Kynar Aquatec PVDF resin are formulated to protect commercial and residential building facades for over 20 years, including a 15-year product-and-labor warranty on fade resistance.

The Kynar Aquatec PVDF resin has carbon-fluorine bonds to hold up against exposure to UV, thermal and chemical conditions. This allows for resistance against film erosion, chalking and color fading.

“The same properties that allow NeverFade Exterior Paints to resist color fading also allow them to resist the dirt, bugs, mold, and mildew that can turn a vibrant building exterior to a maintenance-intensive eyesore,” said Krause. “NeverFade protects the building’s substrate from further damage, reduces maintenance time and costs, and eliminates the need for and disruption of constant re-painting.”

APV explains that the paints are easy to apply via brush, roller or spray, with a wet edge to prevent hard-to-blend roller marks.

Additionally, they can reportedly be applied at a lower thickness than acrylic-based paints to reduce consumption. The company adds that their one-part chemistry and long pot and shelf life help to reduce product waste. The products also offer low VOCs and are very low odor.

“Low VOCs are an important consideration when buildings or homes are occupied during the painting process, especially when air-handling units bring outdoor air inside,” said Krause.

Available in three formulas, as well as a complementary primer, APV offers custom formulations with inorganic pigments to meet color specifications.

“With NeverFade, building projects can rely on one brand for all surface substrates and applications, including facades, curtainwalls, standing seam metal and composite roofing, railings, decorative features, overhangs, window profiles, mullions, and door frames,” said Krause. “Builders and project specifiers are better able to design with bright and bold colors, secure in the knowledge that those colors will remain true for the long term.”
