CPIA Issues Call for Abstracts

The Commercial Painting Industry Association, in partnership with Technology Publishing Company, is calling for abstracts for presentations and discussion topics at the 2022 CPIA Leadership Conference. The conference, which will be held in conjunction with TPC’s Commercial Contractor Connect event, will take place Oct. 10-13, at The Westin Lake Las Vegas Resort & Spa in Henderson, Nevada.

Submitting an Abstract

As the first and only trade association created exclusively for commercial painting professionals, the CPIA strives to create an inclusive culture where its peer-based community of industry experts can collaborate with one another to learn and develop best practices.

It is because of the CPIA’s mission and core values that it is seeking abstracts for its upcoming 2022 Leadership Conference. While this year’s event is expected to feature a collection of keynote speakers and roundtable discussions, the association is looking for additional presentation topics that would be valuable in understanding and improving the industry.

The opportunity is available to contractors and suppliers alike who are noted to have an existing relationship with the association, whether it be through a partnership-, sponsorship- or membership-level agreement. The CPIA wants to hear from all the players within the industry so that everyday challenges, new technology and information can be adopted by leading professionals around the world.

Some topics to consider for this event, among others, include:

Coatings Application;
Coatings Technology;
Digital Marketing/Social Media;
Drone/Robotics Technology;
Environmental Concerns;
Market Drivers;
Labor Shortage;
Project/Operations Management;
Supply Chain Issues; and
Surface Preparation.

The selection of abstracts for the CPIA is highly competitive. Potential presenters must ensure that their submitted abstracts convey a current industry topic or issue, paired with compelling research into that topic or a proposed solution. In addition, submitters must also provide a brief description of their educational and professional experience that demonstrates their knowledge of the subject. Selection is based solely on the content of the abstract submitted, so clear and detailed descriptions are essential.

When submitting an abstract, individuals/teams are asked to complete the following required information:

Abstract title;
Background information (solution/problem, or industry advancement opportunity);
Indicate whether this work has previously been presented at another conference or in another publication;
Abstract (200-300 words);
Describe how this presentation will advance the commercial painting industry;
Identify the type of paper (Case Study, Review, New Research, Other); and
Secondary/co-authors, if applicable.

Those interested in submitting must ensure that their abstracts do not promote one specific product or brand and must focus exclusively on technical/best practice content. The use of trade names must be avoided wherever possible.

If you see a topic above or have a topic that wasn’t listed that interests you and that you’d like to have considered as a presentation for the 2022 Leadership Conference, please email CPIA Editor-in-Chief Destiny Johnson at djohnson@thecpia.com by June 15 with the above information.

Conference organizers will make their selection by June 30 and will collaborate with the chosen presenters on their event presentation. If selected, presenters will be required to submit their PowerPoint Presentation to the CPIA by Sept. 1.

All submitted content will be considered by conference organizers for possible publication in Commercial Painting and Commercial Painting Monthly.
